♪Beautttiful girl, she's all the way in hong kong...♪ Anyway I dedicate this post to my mostest loyal reader Angela. Even though she knows everything that goes on in my life, she still asks for updated xanga posts because I apparently have some interesting things left to say. So before I start talking about what I had for lunch, I'll talk about the last week. I've been keeping busy, going out every night so far since my baby left me. It feels like I'm back in UW all over again, staying out late and stuff and hanging out with my bestest buddies. I'd also like to say that I got a new job at the same place. I'll be doing new stuff on a new team and I'm very grateful that my old manager and my new manager support me. It'll be a good (and much needed) change of pace. Work has really burnt me out. I guess I'd like to talk about all the poor drivers out there next. I'd like to point out that just because you're in your car, you're not invisible. Yes, we can see you picking your nose. Yes, we can see you looking in the mirror and putting on lipstick/makeup. Yes, we can see you yapping away to your cell phone while driving retardedly slow. Why can't you just hang up for a second and drive right? You don't need to explain what you had for lunch (or breakfast) during the ~25 minute average commute everyday. I hope you crash into a tree, or even better, another terrible driver. But then you would raise insurance rates for everyone. Great. I'd like to take this final paragraph to promote awareness of our political and corporate state. If you keep up with the news, you'd find that approval rates for congress and the president have sunk to all time lows. Part of the reason is that corporations have too much say as a result of powerful lobbyist influence over politicians. I implore all of you to take a second to think about it, and then act on it. It's as easy as supporting good companies and banning evil companies. Make sure your dollar and your voice is heard. Recently, I emailed the Seattle Department of Transportation and the Washington Department of Transportation. To my surprise, they both responded to my issues and said they would investigate and make changes. Your government is not as faceless as you think. They want to listen to reasonable citizens and they want to help the public. At least our state government does... And to you slackers out there who are followers...you should at least respond to the emails and get your voice in. Stop making all the planners to do all the work. It's easy. Just chime in and ask, what can I do to help or be flexible? YPC: It's not what your corporation can do for you, it's what you can do for your corporation. Fin |
